Chondrodactylus bibronii

Bibron's Tubercled Gecko gets its name from the tubercles on its back. It is found in the western, northern and north-eastern regions of South Africa. Beyond our borders it is found up to Angola and Tanzania.

The gecko reaches a length of around 15 to 20 cm. The tail makes up about half of its length.

The Bibron's Tubercled Gecko lives in colonies on rocky outcrops. Their diet consists of insects such as grasshoppers, beetles and termites but they will also eat other small reptiles.

The female lays two eggs in a crack in a rock or other hidden place.
