The Kalahari Ground Gecko is an attractive species that is found on the flat sandy areas of the northern Cape. It requires a bit of vegetation to give it cover. It is also known as Wahlberg's Kalahari Gecko.
It is a small creature which rarely reaches a length of 10 cm. Most often they are between 7 and 9 cm in length. The Kalahari Ground Gecko has a fat tail which makes up for about half of its length.
These reptiles eat small insects such as grasshoppers and termites. A variety of predators including owls, snakes and smaller carnivores feed on them.
The female lays two eggs in a short burrow.
The Kalahari Ground Gecko is only found in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
