The Charles Engelhard Dam is located near Letaba Camp in Kruger National Park. The S46 gravel road runs along its southern shore and offers a number of short loop roads to get closer to the dam.

The dam was built with funds donated by Charles William Engelhard and there is a plaque to commemorate his generous donation. The plaque can be seen on the S46 in line with the southern end of the dam wall. The plaque was laid in his memory by his wife and daughters on 2nd August 1971. Engelhard had died on 2nd March 1971.

The S46 gravel road continues south following the Letaba River. I personally haven't had much luck with game viewing along this road. The S46 eventually turns westward and joins up with th H1-5 tar road after 6 km.
