Kliprivier is a small settlement located near Meyerton, at the junction of the R550 and M61, just off the R59 between Vereeniging and Alberton in Gauteng. There is also a village called Kliprivier in KwaZulu-Natal. The Afrikaans name of "Kliprivier" means "Stony River" and the river of that names runs close to the town.
The main item of interest to a visitor is the "Witkop Blockhouse". This blockhouse was built by the British army during the Anglo-Boer war and is one of only around 50 left in South Africa. Sadly it, and the surrounding area, have not been well maintained and the state of the Witkop Blockhouse is of concern to many locals. Unfortunately, the blockhouse has had any movable object removed and the site has been vandalised. I really enjoyed this article on the Witkop Blockhouse.
Another nearby attraction is the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve which offers the visitor scenic drives and walks. The reserve is stocked with various species of antelope but it is better known as a birding location.
