The Magoebaskloof Dam is located on the R71 between Polokwane and Tzaneen. It is a short distance east of Haenertsburg.

This earthfill dam was built in 1971 to provide irrigation to the surrounding lands. The dam wall is 43 metres in height and the dam has a capacity of 4,800 cubic metres.

Magobaskloof Dam is on the Politsi River, and it is believed that its presence has had a negative impact on that river. The Debengeni Waterfall is not too far upstream on the Politsi River.

The dam is surrounded by hills and plantations and is very scenic, but it is not really used for any leisure activities.

If you are looking for a dam that caters more for recreational activities in this area, then check out the Ebenezer Dam which is not too far away.
