What a stunning picture of a Caracal adorns the cover of Wild magazine issue 24! These beautiful cats are so elusive, and you can count yourself lucky if you get to see one in the wild (besides Wild magazine).

Some interesting and rather challenging hikes can be found in the article entitled “High and mighty.” The focus is on the picturesque Golden Gate Highlands National Park and the Rhebok Hiking Trail in particular.

I loved the piece on animal behavior which describes the relationship between Meerkats and Ground Squirrels. They share burrows at times and do some more sharing if you look at the pictures!

Butterflies are beautiful and fascinating insects and the short article on butterflies of the Karoo and Namaqua National Parks is helpful if one is visiting those areas.

Good articles and beautiful pictures make this another great issue of Wild magazine.
