The Wildebeest's Review of Caravan and Outdoor Life - Issue 651

The Wildebeest reviewing a book

I have the June 2016 issue of Caravan and Outdoor Life and, as usual, I settle down in my favourite chair, with a cup of coffee, to read the magazine. As usual there is a batch of letters describing mostly good camping experiences but every now and then we experience rude people or poorly maintained resorts. I don’t suppose that is ever going to change.

I have had some good trips to the St. Lucia area, so I read the article on a trip from St. Lucia to Kosi Bay with interest. This is a beautiful area but very wild in some parts. I have never driven the really sandy roads that the author tackled, and I guess that one needs a capable vehicle.

Next up is a review of the new Sprite Sprint and it looks like a breath of fresh air. It’s not particularly spacious but, as the reviewer points out, us South Africans can spend most of our time outside the caravan as we generally have good weather.

Caravan owners should take note of the information shared under the article on overloading. This is a very confusing area and one needs to avoid being fined because you didn’t do your maths correctly.
