I am not sure what I was expecting when I bought this book but now that I have had a chance to explore it, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed. I can’t blame author M.K. Rowan for this and nor can I blame artist Graeme Arnott for my disappointment. The problem is that I didn’t look at it carefully enough in CNA.

The book kicks off with some nice colour plates and then comes the text. I didn’t realise that this title was like Robert’s on steroids, for these bird families. There is a lot off technical information which I am sure will be very useful to researchers, but it is not for me, and probably not for you either.

I bought the book at CNA for half-price so, if I am honest, I probably would have bought it anyway. I am a sucker for adding natural science books to my collection.
