The Wildebeest's Review of "African Wildlife - Vol 40 No 6"
Whilst on one of his many migrations this old Wildebeest stumbled on some old African Wildlife magazines for sale. As a former member of the Wildlife Society of South Africa I had to scoop these mags up and add them to my collection (horde?).
This particular issue came out in November 1986 and contained articles on the Swartboskloof fire, a new moth pest in the Cape, an ode to a warthog, Southern Right Whale conservation and much more.
The magazine kicks off with a rather lengthy annual report, which I quickly skipped, followed by an investigative report into the affairs of the Ben Lavin Nature Reserve. There was a rather good article on the Yellow-bellied Sea-snake which is not a creature that you really want to make an acquaintance with!
Overall, this was another informative issue of this conservation magazine which brought back many memories.
