The Wildebeest's Review of "Getaway Magazine - Vol 35 Nr 1"

The first thing that I love about the August 2023 issue of Getaway Magazine is the cover photo. It has so much detail in it and one can enjoy the photo from the peaks in the top left corner to the workers in the fields at the bottom right.

If you are interested in a trip to Madagascar, then you really need to get your hands on this issue. Firstly, there is a photography portfolio on Madagascan wildlife featuring the work of Dale Morris. From cute Lemur’s to Baobab trees this large island has a lot to offer.

Next up is a lengthy article on exploring Madagascar which focuses on the people of this country. It is an interesting piece which provides plenty of information.

Another article which caught my attention is the one on birding in Zimbabwe. I have yet to see the elusive African Pitta but, as the article shows, it is there to be seen. And, while you are looking for it, there are plenty of other birds to tick off.

As a chocolate lover I found the article entitled “Raising the bar” quite fascinating. Sometimes you don’t realise the back story of the food that you see on the shelves of your local supermarket. Lastly I would like to mention the piece on “Rock churches in Ethiopia” which makes great reading.
