Ciconia episcopus

The Woolly-necked Stork is not as large as some storks but it does reach of height of 85 cm.

They get their name from their 'fluffy' white necks. The sexes have the same colouration. Juveniles have duller colours.

Although Woolly-necked Storks breed near water, and are often associated with it, they can also be found far from the water at times.

They make their nests out of sticks in a large tree. The clutch can consist of up to 5 eggs.

This stork is widely distributed. It can be found from South Africa through to Indonesia and other parts of Asia.
