Tomopterna cryptotis

The Tremolo Sand Frog is a thick-set from that can grow to a length of 4.5 to 5 cm.

In South Africa it is found around pools and other bodies of water across the northern and north-eastern regions of the country. Beyond our borders it is quite wide spread across Africa.

Unlike most frogs these ones call from out in the open on a sandy area.

It is a terrestrial species that spends its time on the ground or in the water.

It normally breeds in temporary pools.
