Montrose is situated on the N3 highway halfway between Durban and Johannesburg. It is a tiny stopping place near the town of Swinburne. The fast food outlets here are always buzzing with activity as this is the most convenient place to stop for a quick meal and a comfort break on this busy route.

There is a hotel at Montrose and a number of food outlets as well as a petrol station. There are also a number of farms offering accommodation in the area.

The surrounding area offers places to take a hike and enjoy the stunning scenery. It is also known in climbing circles as nearby peaks offer some interesting climbing challenges.

Montrose is situated in a very scenic area at the top of Van Reenens pass.

Is Montrose a good place to stop on your journey?
