Potjiesberg Pass

The Potjiesberg Pass is in the Western Cape near Uniondale. It is on the N9 highway. The pass is not particularly steep but is just over 20 km long.
The pass was constructed in 1962 and is in good condition. One needs to be careful as the N9 is used by numerous trucks. Be alert for heavier trucks that could potentially have a brake failure on this long pass.
The Potjiesberg Pass has outstanding views of the surrounding countryside. The name refers Potjiesberg is Afrikaans and refers to a mountain on the route which looks somewhat like a pepper pot.
