Muzandzeni is a rustic picnic site about 30 km south-west of Satara Camp. It has basic toilet and picnic facilities.
This picnic site is a great place to cook up a breakfast, or stretch your legs, for day visitors as well as those staying at Satara, Orpen, Tamboti, Maroela and Talamati camps.
To get to Muzandzeni you can drive west on the H7 tar road, turn left into the S36 dirt road, and drive 9 km. Ignore the turnoff onto the S126 and you will reach the picnic site after 1 km. Enjoy a break at the picnic site before heading back to Satara along the S126. This road loosely follows the Sweni River. Once you reach the H1-3 tar road go left and it is 10 km back to Satara Camp.
The area around Muzandzeni is good for general game viewing and gives you a reasonable chance of seeing the Big 5. The picnic site is in a vegetation zone known as Mixed Bushwillow Woodlands. You may get sightings of Giraffe, Kudu, Impala, Grey Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbok, Sable, Zebra, and Buffalo. Lion and Spotted Hyena are also found in the area.
