Melville is a suburb of Johannesburg and is known for its many trendy restaurants and pubs. The University of the Witwatersrand in located nearby and students are a common sight in the area.

One of the more unusual features in Melville is that many of the pubs and restaurants are still located on the main streets and not in malls as is the trend nowadays. Besides the normal entertainment one would expect in a suburb like this you can also catch a show at the Melville Comedy Club.

Melville is well-situated for tourists and there is plenty of accommodation available. There are many guest houses available in the area.

A visit to the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve is well worth it. Besides the many birds and animals that may be seen there are great views to be had over the city. The reserve is located on the northern boundary of Melville.
