The Wildebeest's Review of Getaway Magazine - Volume 22 Number 12
From Kruger Park to Reunion to Eastern Cape Game Reserves this issue of Getaway Magazine has a lot to offer. Let’s see if the contents live up to the promise of the cover.
I start with a look at the article on the Whale Trail in De Hoop Nature Reserve. The article is interesting in that young kids were taken on the trail, and it looks like they had a great time. The trail is 54 km in length and is 5 nights in duration. It definitely looks worth doing.
The island of Reunion is not as well known as most of the other Indian Ocean islands, but it is worth a visit if you can get there. You are able to take a trip right round the island. The scenery is rugged, but beautiful, with the occasional beach where one can relax. It is an expensive place to visit but looks to be well worth it.
The article on Jock of the Bushveld is great reading and what a reminder it is of days gone by when what is now Kruger National Park was wild and dangerous, and travellers braved the trip from Mpumalanga to Lourenco Marques.
The Eastern Cape is not known for its game parks but there are a number of great reserves to visit. A number of them are reviewed in the magazine. Some great photos accompany the article.
Yes, I think that this issue did live up to the promise on the cover. Well done team.
