It’s a cold July here on the highveld so can the latest issue of Getaway Magazine warm us up by introducing us to great places to visit during winter? The cover article mentions 15 cosy places to stay in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands. I know the midlands during winter and to be cosy you definitely need a fireplace for those long dark, cold evenings.

The KZN midlands article features a nice range of accommodation and there really is something for everyone. Some, like the St Verde Cottage in Dargle, look very luxurious while others, like Lake Cottage at Zulu Waters, look simpler. I like the look of Lake Cottage, but I bet you it gets pretty cold there in winter!

If you have every thought of photographing the moon, then you will get some handy tips in this issue. As usual the Getaway Gallery features some great images, with the “baboon bustup” being my personal favourite. Then, if you need advice on cooking sausages you have also come to the right place.

I enjoyed the article on the Overberg as well as the photo special on Morocco. The article on the Virunga National Park in the DRC is also great reading.
