The Wildebeest's Review of "Wild Issue 42"
This quarter’s issue of Wild magazine kicks off with some articles on the Cape and more specifically Table Mountain National Park. From there it’s off to Kruger National Park with a piece on Shipandani Hide where you can enjoy an overnight stay if you can get a booking for this popular activity.
Some stunning photography accompanies the article titled “Sunbirds by the dozen.” I enjoyed the article on the conservation of freshwater lakes and channels titled “Swamped by water.” Again, the photography helps highlight some of the creatures found in freshwater lakes and other wetlands.
The solitude of the Tankwa Karoo National Park can be experienced on a 4x4 trail, but one must be prepared for anything that occurs on your drive. The photo of a giant Sociable Weavers nest colony on page 57 is truly amazing. This is a must-read article on this amazing little birds and the other creatures that benefit from them!
