The Wildebeest's Review of Wild Magazine - Issue 44

The Wildebeest reviewing a book

Wild magazine journalist Romi Boom certainly gets around. This month she is in Marakele National Park to witness the release of two Cheetahs. What a great experience and another great article by her.

The next article is on the conservation of the Riverine Rabbit. Apparently, there are only a few hundred left in the wild. The article describes how 150 cameras have been set up in Anysberg Nature Reserve and other places to try and get a feel for where these elusive creatures can still be found.

As a bird lover I enjoyed the article on how members of the Ibis family locate prey underground. Who would have thought that they can sense the slightest movements in the ground while probing with their long bills? Another bird article is an excellent one on identifying woodpeckers.

This issue features many other articles and has a theme of conservation and people running through it. A great publication as normal.
