The Wildebeest's Review of "Know your Garden Birds"
Caltex must be congratulated on promoting birds and birdwatching through their “Know your Birds” booklets. They cover various groups of birds and today their “Know your Garden Birds” is up for review. The booklet has been produced in conjunction with the Wildlife Society.
The booklet starts with a variety of information on attracting birds to your garden, dos and don’ts and useful addresses. The rest of the book is devoted to the birds.
Each species is illustrated with a large colour painting followed by a distribution map and text. The text is not technical in any way and includes general notes on the bird.
It is a nicely produced publication and I really hope that it gets people to take more notice of birds in their gardens as well as how to encourage other species.
