The Wildebeest's Review of SA Country Life Issue 230
Spring is in the air and I have the September issue of SA Country Life on my desk. Will it add to my upbeat spring mood, or will it drag me back into winter? Where is it going to take me this month?
Scanning the contents I see articles on the Platteland, Cullinan, Cape Point, the Wild Coast and Zimbabwe. An article on birding hotspots captures my attention so off I go to page 72.
“The Best of the Best” is an article by Peter Chadwick on the top ten birding hotspots in South Africa. Some of the places recommended are Dronfield Nature Reserve, Tankwa Karoo National Park, Nylsvley Nature Reserve and Langebaan Lagoon. It’s an interesting read but the descriptions of each place are way too short. Pity.
The article on Cullinan was a good read accompanied by some nice pictures. I don’t own a bicycle but, if I did, I would be keen to tackle the trail at Thabaphaswa in the Limpopo. I would do some serious work on my fitness levels first!
Well, this edition takes you on a whirlwind trip to far flung places in Southern Africa and contains some good reads.
