The Wildebeest's Review of "Getaway Magazine - Vol 32 Nr 12"

We are all more-or-less stuck at home with the Covid pandemic and Getaway chooses to tease us by having articles on beautiful places that we can’t get to right now…

I particularly enjoyed the article “Across the river and into the trees” about the region between the Breede and Gouritz Rivers. The trees pictured on page 19 are amazing. The Richtersveld is a rather special area, and it too is featured in this issue.

All of us older readers will appreciate the article on old Kombis that have been refurbished to suit their owners’ lifestyles. I think we all dream of the freedom that such a vehicle could bring us. Read about them in “Now this is the (Van) life.”

Pages 64 and 65 show a double page spread of a large crocodile about to swallow a small fish. What a photo! It’s strange seeing photos of seals, a lighthouse and dolphins accompanying an article on Addo but that is the new reality for this extended park.

Great magazine with superb photographs. Now let me go and price a VW Kombi.
