Black Stork

Ciconia nigra
The Black Stork has a very widespread distribution. It is founf from Japan through Asia and Europe and down to South Africa.
It is normally found near water including wetlands, rivers, lagoons, dams and more.
Fish make up the main portion of the diet of the Black Stork but it also eats frogs, nestling birds, insects and snails.
Black Storks pair for life and normally make their nests on cliffs. They lay between 2 and 5 eggs. Both parents tend to the eggs and chicks. The chicks only leave the nest after about 2 months.
