About 100 km south of Durban lies the seaside town of Hibberdene.

It has a nice stretch of beach and is popular with holiday makers in South Africa. One of the main reasons for its popularity is the abundance of accommodation options that are available.

The small shopping centre, serving the local residents, is a busy place over the weekend. What can't be bought in Hibberdene can normally be obtained in Port Shepstone which is a short distance to the south.

The town was named Hibberdene in honour of a former Postmaster-general of Natal C. Maxwell-Hibberd.

Popular activities in and around Hibberdene include swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling. There are a variety of sports facilities nearby. If you feel like escaping the beach for a few hours why not visit the Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve?
