KwaZulu-Natal has many fantastic beaches and game reserves. KwaZulu-Natal, often referred to as KZN, is known for a number of things including its great weather, excellent beaches, game-parks and cultural diversity. There are many sites of historical significance including many battlefields. Some of the more significant battles that took place in the province are the Battle of Isandlwana, between the British and the Zulu forces, and the Battle of Spioenkop between British and Boer forces.

Durban is a popular destination for both local and foreign tourists with the main attraction being its many beaches. While in Durban don’t forget to visit places such as uShaka Marine World and the Durban Botanical Gardens. Although it is smaller than Durban, Pietermaritzburg is the province’s capital city.
Although Kruger National Park is the country’s premier game reserve, iMfolozi Game Reserve and Hluhluwe Game Reserve are definitely worth a visit. In fact there are many nature reserves in KZN and they are scattered throughout the province. Some of these have 1 or more of the Big 5 species while others are of interest to birders, botanists and others.
