African Common White
Afrikaans name: Afrikaanse gewone witjie
Belenois creona
The African Common White butterfly has a wingspan of 4 cm or so.
Males are white on the upperside of the wing. The wing is bordered with black with white spots in it. The female has a thicker black border and lacks the white spots.
The African Common White is widely distributed along the eastern and northern portions of South Africa.
It is found in a variety of habitats including forest edges, along the coast line, parks and gardens and hillsides.
