Scarlet Tip
Afrikaans name: Skarlakenpuntjie
Colotis danae annae
The Scarlet Tip butterfly is quite variable in size. Specimens have a wingspan ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 cm.
Only males display the orangey-red colouration on the upperside wing tips. Females have more spots and markings.
The Scarlet Tip is found in a variety of habitats including forest edges, savanna and hillsides.
They can be seen at all times of the year.
