The Wildebeest's Review of "Meeting with Birds"
I feel that the title of this small book is a bit confusing but maybe that is just me. The introduction clarifies the title. Its aim is to present a picture and comments of what a new, or inexperienced birder, may remember from their first encounter with one of the species included in the book.
The species included represent most of the more common and more obvious birds to be encountered in South Africa. The photos are clear and will help a novice identify most of the included species.
The text includes non-technical notes on where you may see the bird, its diet and more. There are some curious colour bars for each species, and it took me a while to figure out what they meant. They look like flags from some unknown countries.
“Meeting with Birds” is a nice concept and it has been well executed.
